ATHENS, Sept. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Russia doubled their wins by beating the United States 3-0 in the 7-a-side football tournament of the 12th Paralympic Games held at the Helliniko Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Lasha Murvanidze scored two goals and Ivan Potenkhin one, to give the Russian team a well deserved victory, their second in as many matches.

The Russians were attacking by numbers and only thanks to goalkeeper Keith Johnson did the American team manage to stay with a clean sheet for 28 minutes. Then Potenkhin scored the opener, which was his third in the tournament.

The picture of the second half was similar and the Russians found the net twice -- in the 47th minute and then in the 54th, with Murvanidze who scored both goals with short range shots.

Before that, in the 36th minute, Pavel Borisov's shot hit the left post.

For the third day of the tournament, Russia will face Brazil, and the United States play the Netherlands, on Thursday. Enditem
