ATHENS, Sept. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Hong Kong has taken an incredible lead in the Paralympic fencing competition in Athens on Tuesday.

Their fencers collected two more gold medals in the women's foil Category A competition. Yu Chui Yee beat teammate Fan Pui Shan 15-4 in the final to take the gold, her third medal in these Games.

The bronze medal went to French Patricia Picot, who beat Zsuzsanna Krajyak of Hungary 15-11 and stepped onto the podium for the fourth time in four Paralympic Games.

The second gold for Hong Kong came in Category B from Chan Yui Chong. She beat Hungarian Gyongyi Dani 15-4. "I did not know how to react," the Hungarian said after the match.

Dani started well with an initial 4-2 lead but was then confused by the referee's decisions. Chan got four points in a row to lead 6-4, and that was when the Hungarian fencer seemed to be mentally blocked.

"I really tried to win for Europe, Hungary, myself and my family, but I had no more ideas on how to compete differently," Dani added after the match.

The bronze medal went to Saysunee Jana of Thailand, who beat Carol Hickey of the United States 15-5.

It was a European day for men's epee competition. French Cyril More beat Pole Radoslaw Stanczuk 15-11 in Category A.

Andriy Komar of Ukraine was crowned new Paralympic champion in Category B. He beat Robert Wysmierski of Poland 15-9 in the final bout.

Kwong Wai Ip from Hong Kong won the bronze in Category A, while in Category B it was John Rogers of the United States who claimed the bronze.

Fencing's third day once again showed Asia's dominance in the sport. Hong Kong, China is leading the medal standings with six gold, four silver and one bronze for a total of 11 medals, followed by China on 1-1-0 for a medal tally of two.

France has grabbed one gold and two bronze for three medals in total and Poland has clinched six medals (three silvers and as many bronze). Enditem
