Beijing, Sept. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Mercedes-Benz has informed China's General
Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) that
it will recall some of its cars in China to fix three faults, reported Shenzhen
Daily on Monday.
The administration received notification from Mercedes-Benz on Sept 7.
According to a statement on GAQSIQ's official Web site, Mercedes will
recall 7,408 cars of its A, CL, CLK, E and S-series sedans produced between
March 1997 and May 2001 to repair a hydraulic device in its electronic
stabilization program (ESP), which helps stabilize the car.
The statement also said the company was to recall 2,461 cars of the S and
CL series produced between December 1998 to October 2000 because of possible
deficiencies in the air-conditioning system.
The company was also to recall 3,119 cars of the S and CL series produced
between March 2000 to March 2004 to check for leaks in the automatic body
control hydraulic system. The ABC system controls the cars' suspension.
