Hu Jintao becomes chairman of CPC Central Military Commission

    BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Hu Jintao succeeded Jiang Zemin as chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the Fourth Plenum of the 16th CPC Central Committee, which just concluded here Sunday.

    The four-day plenum approved Hu to take over the CMC chairmanship after accepting Jiang's resignation. Enditem
