JAKARTA, Sept. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri said Saturday the election process in Indonesia was taking a very long time and expressed the hope that the House of Representatives (DPR) could come out with simpler election schedule in the next term.
"We will hold democratic election the day after tomorrow (Monday) after an eight-month process. It is a very long time," the president was quoted by Detikcom online news service as saying.
"I have discussed the time-consuming process with the DPR speaker and all heads of factions," said Megawati, who was visiting an industrial complex in the Central Java town of Sragen.
"I hope the new government in the upcoming term along with the new DPR will take a look at this and come out with a simpler schedule," she said.
Indonesia held separately the legislative and presidential elections this year.
The process started in February when all participating parties registered themselves with the General Election Commission (KPU) and will culminate Monday at the final round of presidential elections. Enditem
