UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said here Thursday that measures should be taken immediately to stop crimes in the troubled region of Darfur, in west Sudan.

In an announcement read out by the UN chief, Annan said he will dispatch a team of experts to Darfur to find out possible measures to help the suffered people there.

"Their job is not to describe or characterize what is happening, but to see what more can be done to stop it, and to prevent further abuses," he said. Enditem
