UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- In order to grab more support for its draft resolution on Sudan, the United States will circulate an amendment to a UN Security Council resolution threatening sanctions, diplomatic sources said Thursday.
The new draft will not directly mention sanctions on Sudan's oil industry, "it used the word 'energy' instead," the sources said.
The US introduced a draft resolution earlier this week and will seek a vote Friday, but the draft encountered opposition from reluctant council members who had interests in the oil-rich country. Enditem |
