Over 3,000 Paralympic athletes arrive in Athens

    ATHENS, Sept. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Up to Tuesday, more than 3,000 athletes from 127 countries and regions worldwide had arrived in Athens, for the 12th Summer Paralympic Games slated for Sept. 17-28.

    "More athletes are coming," Steffe Klein, communication manager of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) told Xinhua in a telephone interview here on Wednesday.

    Klein said that according to the participation applications IPC received, more than 4,000 athletes with physical or mental disabilities from 140 countries and regions are expected to be in the Greek capital for the quadrennial event. Enditem
