Women wheelchair volleyball debut at Paralympics

    BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A 12-strong women's wheelchair volleyball team from China will make their debut in the Athens Paralympic Games which open on Friday.

    It will be the first time that China joins a team sport contest in the Paralympics.

    The young national team, formed in 2002, is aiming for a medal in Athens.

    The team won a spot for the Athens Games in the Paralympic qualifiers by beating Japan, Mongolia and Holland in 2003.
