ATHENS, Sept. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Making their debut at the Paralympic Games, a young Chinese women's sitting volleyball team is making the final built-up for the start of the 12th Paralympic Games competition slated in a week's time.

"Although we are newcomers, we will give our best shot and try to play to our form," Chinese coach Le Rongrong told Xinhua on Tuesday.

"Our target is to be listed among the top three," he said.

"It's hard to predict our results in the Athens games as we had never played, in recent years, any of our opponents here," he admitted.

Three of the six teams in Athens -- the Netherlands, Slovenia and Finland enjoy an obvious physical advantage over the Chinese, with an average height of some 1.80 meters against 1.60 of the Chinese.

And China has experienced the sport for just a decade, at most, they lack international experience, Le said.

"But as Asian champions, our young players are eager to try their best. It would be a great success if they could win a medalin Athens," he said.

For this year's games, seven out of the 12 Chinese players are from Shanghai, with some from the country's world championships squad. Other players are from eastern China's Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and Gansu in the northwest. Enditem
