CAIRO, Sept. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- As part of Egypt's programme to overhaul the Palestinian security system, the first batch of Palestinian security officers will arrive to be trained in Egypt, the official MENA news agency reported here Tuesday.

Palestinian Interior Minister Hakam Balawi told MENA that Egypt has launched the intensive programme and will help rebuild the Palestinian security bodies through training security officers.

No less than 45 top Palestinian security officers are scheduled to arrive in Cairo Saturday to attend an Egyptian-organized intensive high-level training course that is due to last from six to ten weeks, Balawi was quoted as saying.

Egypt will also help define the tasks and jurisdiction of the different Palestinian security apparatuses and coordinate work among them, he added.

On Sunday, Jibril Rajoub, the security aide to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, noted that a Palestinian security delegation has been meeting with their Egyptian counterparts, discussing the security arrangements after the Israeli pullout from Gaza.

The two sides will also discuss thee plans to train well-qualified Palestinian officers in Egyptian police academy,  he added.  Enditem
