BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhuanet) The Vice-Chair of the Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission has resigned. The State Council made the announcement on Monday.

At the CSRC, Laura oversaw securities issuances and public offerings and was the first high-ranking official to be hired from Hong Kong.

Before Laura Cha's appointment in February 2001, she was Vice-Chair at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.

During her term in Beijing, she earned a reputation for strict regulations. In spite of her resignation, Laura Cha will still assume the post of vice-chair of the CSRC's international consultant committee.
