(Photo: CRIENGLISH.com/AFP) | BEIJING, Sept.14 (Xinhuanet) -- One of China's most acclaimed directors, Zhang Yimou, is planning a third martial-arts epic after the success of his two other martial-arts films.
The 52-year-old filmmaker, whose works include "Ju Dou," "Raise the Red Lantern" and "The Road Home," said that he has become addicted to shooting martial-arts films. China Radio International reported Tuesday.
The Chinese director also revealed that his third movie will not be a simple repeat of the previous ones, and a special squad of screenplay writers will work to create a spectacular scenario.
Zhang's "Hero," a ancient Chinese saga starring Jet Li, topped the box-office for two straight weekends after its belated U.S. debut in late August.
Close behind it is Zhang's "House of Flying Daggers," another martial-arts historical tale playing at the Toronto International Film Festival and due in U.S. theatres late this year.
