Israeli tank badly damaged by roadside bomb in Gaza
www.chinaview.cn 2004-09-13 21:56:19

GAZA, Sept. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian militants blew up a roadside bomb under an Israeli army tank that was driving south of the Jewish settlement of Dogit in northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian witnesses reported Monday.

They said the explosion had directly targeted the tank as it was driving near an Israeli army roadblock, adding that the tank was badly damaged.

The explosion was followed by intensive gunfire opened by Israeli soldiers at the roadblock, hitting several nearby houses, the witnesses added.

They said flames of fire was seen coming out from the tank, and several Israeli army ambulances approached the area, apparently some soldiers in the tank were hit.

Israeli Army Radio confirmed the attack on an Israeli tank, but said that no injuries had been reported.  Enditem
