| KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Kuwaiti Humanitarian Operations Center (HOC) has provided aids worth 8,929,780 US dollars to Iraq, the Arab Times reported Sunday.
"Allegations that the center does not extend humanitarian services to Fallujah and other areas racked by uprising against the coalition forces are untrue," HOC director Ali Al-Momen was quoted as saying.
"Aid to Fallujah from March to the end of August reached 8,929,780 dollars," the director added.
He said the HOC, established by the Kuwaiti government to coordinate humanitarian aids to Iraq, would undertake studies requested by the cabinet on the management of a 5-million-dollar grant for the renovation of Najaf.
Previous reports said the fund had not been disbursed due to therecent hostilities in the city, a charge refuted by the director.
Al-Momen said the activities of aid workers in Iraq have been facilitated through HOC's coordination with Iraqi security authorities.
He also denied HOC interfered in some rebuilding projects of Iraq, stressing it was beyond its task. Enditem |
