Urgent: Six die in S. African charter plane crash in Zambia

    JOHANNESBURG, Sept. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Six people including a pilot were killed in a plane crash near Zambia's Livingstone airport on Thursday afternoon, the South African Press Association (SAPA) reported on Thursday.

    The report quoted Chilu Kabalika, director of Civil Aviation inZambia, as saying that the victims' nationality has not been confirmed.

    "The wreckage was located. All people on board have perished ...There were five passengers and one pilot," Kabalika was quoted as saying.

    "I have been advised that the people are not South Africans. Wecould not establish the passengers' names yet, but I was told they came from Malawi and have British names, although I am not sure oftheir nationality," he said.

    The SAPA reported earlier that the charter plane had been involved in some kind of accident before landing at Livingstone airport. Enditem
