GAZA, Sept. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli troops on Wednesday
shot and wounded seven Palestinians in northern Gaza and three in southern Gaza,
Palestinian medical sources reported.
According to
Palestinian witnesses, Israeli army tanks stationed on a hilltop between the
town of Beit Lahya and Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza fired seven shells
and opened intensive gunfire at the area.
They
added that Israeli helicopters also fired intensive gunfire at residents'
houses.
The Israeli forces are carrying out a military
operation in the area aimed at preventing militants from firing al Qassam
homemade rockets at southern Israel.
Meanwhile,
Palestinian medics in the southern Gaza Strip town of Kahn Younis said three
Palestinians were shot and wounded by Israeli troops gunfire, among them a
four-year-old toddler who was in serious conditions.
