www.chinaview.cn 2004-09-08 02:41:54

MOSCOW, Sept. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday he would hold a referendum next month asking voters to allow him to seek a third term, loca reports said.

Running for a third term in a presidential election due in 2006 would require changing the constitution, which limits a president to two straight five-year terms.
