LONDON, Sept. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- British police said Tuesday that a 21-year-old British soldier had been arrested and charged with the murder of a civilian in Iraq.
The arrest came after Britain's attorney general ordered an investigation into the death of Iraqi Hassan Said who died in southeastern Iraq in August last year.
London's Metropolitan Police said the soldier was taken into custody at a London police station and would appear at a magistrate's court later on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Tony Blair said Tuesday at his monthly press conference that most of the 8,000 British troops in Iraq have done a "fantastic" job. Enditem |
