BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior Palestinian official says curfews launched by Israeli troops in some cities have blocked the process Palestinian registration as voters for the second general election.
Ali Al-Jirbawi, director of the Palestinian Central Elections Committee, said on the second day, registration was going well in the Gaza Strip and most parts of the West Bank. But curfews in Jenin and Bethlehem were resulting in difficulties in registration.
The official said the Palestinians plan to take whatever feasible measures they can to ensure the completion of the work - including extending the registration period.
The five-week registration for the second general election kicked off on Saturday.
