One fourth of Chinese suffer from malnutrition
www.chinaview.cn 2004-09-05 09:40:53

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- A recent study shows that about 250 million Chinese suffer from malnutrition, such as a lack of vitamen A and iron-deficiency anemia.

Conducted by the Chinese Health Ministry and the United Nations Children Fund, the study found that 20 percent of children lack iron and 12 percent lack Vitamin-A. Experts say this could lead to a four percent loss of GDP because of poor mental and physical development.
