MAASTRICTHT, the Netherlands, Sept. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot told reporters here Saturday that the European Union (EU) may impose sanctions on the Sudanese government if it fails to comply with UN resolutions on the Darfur crisis.

At a mid-day press briefing on the second day of the informal meeting of the EU foreign ministers, Bot said that the Netherlands, which is holding the EU's rotating presidency, is requesting the European Commission and the Council of the EU to study possible sanctions and their implications.
