ISLAMABAD. Sept. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri here Saturday said Kashmir is not an intractable problem and both New Delhi and Islamabad need political will to resolve their disputes.
Both Pakistan and India have the genius and statesmanship to resolve all their outstanding issues, but they need a clear visionfor their future generations and "most importantly, we need the courage and boldness to realize this vision," Kasuri said in a statement issued on his departure to India.
"I can say confidently that Kashmir is not an intractable problem. It only requires political will for its solution," Kasuriadded.
He expressed the satisfaction with the dialogue process in which Indian and Pakistani officials have completed their talks onthe eight-item agenda including Kashmir, peace and security and nuclear confidence-building measures.
He, however, stressed that the dialogue should be sustained, structured, substantive and un-interruptable
Kasuri also assured the Kashmiris that they would not be marginalized and Pakistan wants to persuade India to associate them with the dialogue.
"Their association would add substance and meaning to the dialogue. A resolution of the Kashmir dispute alone will guaranteepeace and security in South Asia," said Kasuri.
According to the timetable chalked out by Indian and Pakistani officials in February, Kasuri and his Indian counterpart Natwar Singh will meet Sunday in New Delhi to review the on-going dialogue process. Enditem |
