KAMPALA, Sept. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Uganda's southern city's Entebbe International Airport will soon offer improved aviation security with the equipment provided by the United States under the "Safe Skies for Africa Initiative," local media reported on Friday.
US embassy Charge d'Affaires Bill Fitzgerald and Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Managing Director Ambrose Akandonda signed Thursday an agreement providing about one million dollars worth ofsecurity equipment.
"We look forward to continuing working with the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure aviation security in Uganda," Fitzgerald said at the signing ceremony, adding that "the Safe Skies for Africa program provides a great avenue through which to improve the safety and security equipment and practices in place."
Under the agreement, the US government will provide explosive trace detectors, passenger and baggage x-ray machines, and mental detectors. Enditem
