KATHMANDU, Sept. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Pakistan International Airlines suspended flights to Nepal for an indefinite period from Thursday following its office in Kathmandu was destroyed by demonstrators in protest against the killing of 12 Nepalese in Iraq.

    On Wednesday, a group of angry Nepalese youngsters destroyed the office of the Pakistan International Airlines near the Royal Palace in Kathmandu. The protesters broke the window panes and equipment in the office, and burnt its furniture in the street.

    Pakistani Foreign Office Spokesman Masood Khan strongly condemned the killings of 12 Nepalese workers in Iraq, but termed the attack on its airlines' office as "regrettable."

    "There is no justification for that. This is misdirected anger," Khan said Wednesday in Islamabad.

    Meanwhile, Qatar Airways suspended all of its flights for a week after the attack on its office in Kathmandu Wednesday by furious Nepalese protesters, The Kathmandu Post newspaper reportedThursday.

    Air Sahara also suspended its Delhi-Kathmandu inaugural flightsdue to the "worsening law and order situation" in Nepal's capital.

    A dozen Nepalese workers were taken hostage by a militant groupin Iraq last month, and were killed last week for allegedly assisting the US troops there, which triggered strong protest in Nepal. Enditem
