RAMALLAH, Sept. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Rawhi Fatouh, the speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), announced on Wednesday thatthe weekly PLC sessions will be halted until Oct. 7.

The PLC sessions will be halted from Sept. 1 to Oct. 7, Fatouhtold reporters, adding that the decision was made after Palestinianleader Yasser Arafat failed to signed the bills approved by thecouncil.

"It is also a protest against the Palestinian cabinet that up todate has not implemented the decisions and the bills that wereapproved by the Legislative Council," said Fatouh.

Fatouh said 12 laws have been finalized and approved by the PLC,adding that these laws are waiting for Arafat's approval and Arafathas said he would approve them.

"There are many decisions made, but there is no decision to dealwith them seriously," said Fatouh.

Arafat, who is under strong international and internal pressureto make reforms in the Palestinian National Authority (PNA)institutions and security apparatuses, delivered a speech to thePLC on Aug. 18, in which he acknowledged mistakes made and promisedreforms. Enditem
