MANILA, Aug. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- There is no definite schedule yet for the deployment of the Malaysian-led International Monitoring Team in the southern Philippines, after which the peace talks between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels can resume.

There is no schedule yet for the deployment since the terms of reference has not been finalized, said Malaysian Embassy Charge d'Affaires Mahinder Singh at Malaysia's celebration of its 47th National Day here.

The rebel group has yet to submit its comments on the terms of reference reportedly drafted by Malaysia, diplomatic sources said.

Singh declined to answer inquiries on the peace process, sayingquestions on that matter should be directed to the Philippine government.

Earlier, the Philippine government said the peace process with the MILF were still on track as confidence-building measures continued and both sides said they were just awaiting formal notice from the Malaysian government.

The Philippine government has already submitted its comments onMalaysia's terms of reference. It has also complied with the preconditions set by the MILF for the resumption of the talks suchas the withdrawal of criminal charges filed against MILF leaders and members for the bombings in the southern city of Davao and thewithdrawal of government troops from the former MILF stronghold also in the south.

Malaysia is reportedly set to deploy a 60-man monitoring team to the southern Philippine island of Mindanao in September to observe the ceasefire agreement between the government and the MILF reached last year.

The deployment of a monitoring team to the Philippines is part of the agreement between the government and the MILF during the preliminary talks in Kuala Lumpur in April.

Besides Malaysia, both two sides have also agreed to include Libya, Bahrain, Brunei and Bangladesh in an international monitoring team. Enditem
