TEHRAN, Aug. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran said Sunday that it was confident the country's nuclear dossier would not make a case for examination at the United Nations Security Council, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"We don't think the report of the International Atomic EnergyAgency (IAEA) will be such that it gives a pretext to refer Iran's file to the Security Council," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi was quoted as saying.
Asefi noted that although most outstanding questions about Iran's nuclear program were resolved, Washington was sure to come ahead with new "peripheral issues".
"Experience has shown that the United States raises up one new peripheral issue each time ahead of the meeting," he said. The IAEA will hold a board of governors' meeting in Vienna inSeptember. Iran's nuclear issue will be examined again at the meeting.
Iran has been consistently denying the US accusation that it is secretly developing atomic weapons, asserting that its nuclear research is fully peaceful and the accusation is politically motivated. Enditem
