GAZA. Aug. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Two Palestinians waiting at an Israeli army
roadblock south of the central Gaza town of Deir el Ballah were shot and wounded
by Israeli troops on Saturday, medics and witnesses said.
They said that the Israeli forces stationed at the roadblock had first incurred into the area
south of the roadblock and then opened haphazard fire at the residents waiting
to cross the roadblock.
Medical sources said that at least two Palestinian
residents were shot and injured, adding that a local car had taken them to
Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis. The Israeli army
have split the Gaza Strip into three isolated parts, as soldiers closed down the
road in central Gaza Strip as well as the costal road south of Gaza City, where
tens of thousands of Palestinians were banned from moving freely.
Meanwhile, medical sources said Saturday that an aged Palestinian resident
of the southern Gaza town of Rafah died of his wounds sustained on Thursday when
an Israeli Apache helicopter fired a missile that accidentally hit his house.
The missile was targeting the house of an Islamic Jihad militant, but it
hit a neighboring house, where eight people were injured, including the old man
who died Saturday. Enditem
