BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- China's top legislator says the National People's Congress is important for the long term development and stability of China.

    Wu Bangguo says sticking to and improvi ng the NPC is important to the development of socialist democracy and construction of socialist politics in the country. China Radio International reported Saturday.

    Wu Bangguo made the remark during a lecture on the legal system held by the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress to mark the 50th anniversary of the NPC.

    He says it's been proved through half a century the NPC is the system that best suits China.
