HANOI, Aug. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Vietnamese police have just detained four
directors of enterprises for wrongdoing in the oil and gas industry, following
recent arrests of six other corporate officials in the industry.
The four men, Nguyen Trong Nhung, Dang Dinh Binh, Bi Van Tu and Dang Huu Quy were in charge
of building a large liquefied petroleum gas depot, but their irresponsibility
leads to a depot full of faults, causing losses of some 8.5 million US dollars
to the state budget, local media reports said on Thursday.
Earlier, vice general director of the state-owned Vietnam Oil and Gas
Corporation (Petro Vietnam), Nguyen Quang Thuong, was temporarily detained for
his involvement in falsifying documents about the purchase of equipment and
materials.
He and five other accomplices, also arrested, are reported to have put
millions of dollars in their pockets. About 30 Petro Vietnam staff involved in
Thuong's corruption case, the reports said. Enditem
