UAE sets to deliver relief aid to Afghanistan
www.chinaview.cn 2004-08-26 08:01:59

ABU DHABI, Aug. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) plans to send two relief planes to Afghanistan, which will leave here Thursday and Friday respectively, as part of the Red Crescent Society (RCS) aid plans, the official WAM news agency reported Wednesday.

The 38th and 39th relief aid to Afghanistan is to ease sufferings of the needy families in the country, a UAE RCS official was quoted as saying.

The initiative is within the UAE RCS continuous humanitarian programme, which started in 2001 in order to improve the living conditions of the disaster-hit population in line with the directives of the UAE government.

UAE RCS Chairman Sheikh Hamdan attaches great attention to this programme and closely follows up the RCS relief operations in Afghanistan, the official said. Enditem
