ATHENS, Aug. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- World soccer chief Joseph Blatter made an
appeal here Wednesday that more people should go to the stadia to watch soccer
finals of the Olympic Games.
"We invite everyone to watch the remaining matches, in Thessaloniki and
Athens, and live the atmosphere of a football party at the final matches,"
Blatter said at a press conference.
Talking about the low attendances at Olympic soccer matches, the FIFA president said,
"I do not think it will affect the future of football in the Olympic
games. We will be definitely the second sport in attendances after the
athletics that is the main sport event and the heart of the Olympic Games."
Vassilios Gagatsis, President of the Greek Federation of Football, joined
Blatter's appeal for higher attendances, saying "I invite the Greek people to
fulfill the stadia at the remaining matches." Enditem |
