BEIJING, Aug.24(Xinhuanet) -- Beatles fans will soon be able to buy their very own John Lennon sneakers.
The Japanese artist Yoko Ono has agreed on a deal with Nike for the production of trainers which will feature her late husband's image, China Radio International reported Tuesday.
The shoe, which is being manufactured by Nike's subsidiary Converse, is designed in the same style as those worn by John Lennon on the cover of the 1969 album, "Abbey Road"
It features a self-portrait of the legendary musician on the side and the words "Imagine All The People Living Life In Peace" emblazoned across the front.
A percentage of the profits generated by sales of these shoes will go to non-profit organisations working to promote world peace.
Nike in its benevolence has promised to issue a new design every year until this wonderfully idealistic aim has been achieved, or maybe until the shoes stop making a profit. Enditem
