ATHENS, Aug. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Pyrros Dimas of Greece tries to become the first weightlifter to win four consecutive Olympic goldmedals on Saturday when he competed in the men's 85kg class.

The 33-year-old athlete, flagbearer of the Greek Olympic team at the Athens Olympics opening ceremony, dominated the category inBarcelona, Atlanta and Sydney and now seeks victory in front of his fans in Athens.

But the task will no be easy as Dimas is recovering from knee and shoulder injuries and more recently he's had a problem with his wrist.

Australia's Sergo Chakhoyan has the highest entry total among the 11 competitors with 392.5kg and that's 7.5kg more than Dimas.

Yuan Aijun of China will be a strong contender, having won silver in the World Championships in Vancouver last November.

The gold medallist in Vancouver was Romanian Valeriu Calancea, who a few weeks later was seriously injured at the Olympic Games' test event at the Nikaia Weightlifting Hall in Athens.

He dislocated his elbow and damaged bones, but has had a remarkable recovery and now is a medal contender.

In the women's 75-plus division on Saturday, China's Tang Gonghong is gearing up to clinch one more gold for the weightlifting powerhouse, which has already claimed four gold.

Tang, world records holder for total (302.5kg) and clean and jerk (175.0kg) in the discipline, will meet two Sydney Games medallists, Agata Wrobel of Poland and Cheryl Haworth of the United States. Enditem
