BEIJING, Aug.21 (Xinhuanet) -- South Korea and the United States have initialed a series of agreements on the relocation of US military headquarters in Korea.

    Initialed at the end of the 11th round of Future of the Alliance, the agreements will serve as the legal basis for the relocation of the US military headquarters at the Yongsan Garrison in South Korea, China Radio International reported Saturday.

    South Korea's Defense Ministry says the agreements will go into effect after they are signed by the presidents of the two countries and ratified by the National Assembly.

    The two sides did not come to any agreement on the proposed US troop reduction.

    Washington informed Seoul in June about its plan to reduce the 37,500 US troops in South Korea by about one third by the end of 2005.

    The two delegations agreed to further discuss the troop cut issue at their annual Security Consultative Meeting to be held in October in Washington. Enditem
