China beats Germany in women's volleyball

    ATHENS, Aug. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese women's volleyball team whitewashed Germany 25-18, 25-15 and 25-16 in a Group B match to secure a place in the top eight at the 28th Olympic Games Friday morning.

    The first set started with both teams trying to take charge of the game. Zhou Suhong, Yang Hao and Zhang Ping were more efficient than Grun Angelina and Sylvester Judith. As a result, China built up a margin that steadily increase till the final 25-18.

    China dominated the second set while Germany seemed unable to resist the likes of the world number three squad and fell 25-15.

    China once again outclassed Germany in the third set to win 25-16 and sail to a straight-set victory.

    Yang and Zhang toped China's scoring with 14 points each, whileZhou added 12.

    This was China's third win in four matches that helped the team to stay at the top of Pool B. Enditem
