PHNOM PENH, Aug. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk finally decided to return home from Beijing, China, late September"without any condition", local media reported on Thursday.
The King made the announcement on his website on Wednesday in which he said at the request of his followers, "I and Queen will return to the country before the Pchum Ben Festival without condition." However, the King said he still need some time in Beijing to finish his medical checkup before he returns home.
The King and Queen left the country for Beijing in January for routine medical treatment and returned there on Aug. 3 from Pyongyang of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) where they stayed for nearly four months since April.
During his stay abroad, the monarch repeated that he would abdicate which some observers here described as his dissatisfaction with the current political situation in the country.
Earlier this month, the King even said he would never return home unless his abdication was approved by Supreme Patriarch Tep Vong, leader of the Mahanikaya Buddhist sect.
The King's announcement will be sure to stop the suspects around the country that he has had differences with Prime MinisterHun Sen.
It was reported here that Prime Minister Hun Sen and National Assembly President Prince Norodom Ranariddh have planned to meet with the King in Beijing and ask him to return home when they attend the meeting of Asian political parties later this month in Beijing. Enditem
