US soldier killed in Sadr City

     BAGHDAD, Aug. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- A US soldier was killed in the Baghdad stronghold of Shiite militiamen loyal to rebel cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, the US military said Thursday.

    The soldier was killed when he was attacked by small arms fireat around 6:00 p.m. (1400 GMT) on Wednesday, a military statement said without giving further details about the incident.

    Some 940 US servicemen and women have been killed in Iraq since the US-led invasion in march 2003. Enditem
