BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhuanet) --  Vietnam has developed a low cost HIV test kit, which can rapidly detect HIV carriers. 

    The kit's maker, Vietnam-America Medical Equipment and Pharmaceutical Business and Production Joint Stock Company, says the kit's price is 30 percent lower than that of the similar product imported from the United States and Germany. China Radio International reported Tuesday.

    The company says it will also produce kits to detect pregnancy, stomach ulcer, cancer, tuberculosis, syphilis and hepatitis in the coming time.

    Vietnam now has over 81,000 HIV-infected people, including more than 12,000 AIDS patients.
