ATHENS, Aug. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Losing their top seed Lin Dan seemed to exert little effect on Chinese male shuttlers, who withstood great pressure by beating their respective opponents here Monday.

Chen Hong, No.2 seed in the Olympic badminton tournament, foundhis way to conquer Kenneth Jonassen of Denmark, who stole the first set 15-12.

However, Chen, often regarded as a player easy to feel nervous, made sweet revenge against the Danish veteran in the following twosets 15-5, 15-9 and clinched the victory.

His compatriot Bao Chunlai, seeded 4th, marched into the secondround at ease, crushing Shoji Sato of Japan 15-6, 15-5.

"I'm very satisfied, I played very well and I feel I'm in good shape," said Bao, adding that he looked forward to continuing his performance in the same way.

When asked about his goals, the rising star said he has very high expectations, but it's too early to talk about winning a medal, "I should play the match for the next round first". Enditem
