ATHENS, Aug. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- After two rounds of group matches, African teams are posing to advance into the quarter-final stage at the 28th Olympic Games.

Mali leads the men's football group A with four points after two matches in the first round competition, while Ghana, who managed a 2-1 win over Paraguay, is second in group B at four points.

Mali, who conceded no goals after their 0-0 draw against Mexicoon August 11 and 2-0 victory over Greece on August 14, will take on South Korea in their last group match while Greece and Mexico, at one point after two games, will meet each other on August 17.

Ghana, in group B with four points after beating Paraguay 2-1 Sunday, was second in the group behind Italy due to goal difference.

In group C, Tunisia, who had a 1-1 draw with Australia and a 0-2 lose against Argentina, will face Serbia and Montenegro, who hasbeen eliminated with no point after two games.

Tunisia will have to wire-walk in their last group match for a chance to advance as the top-positioned Argentina has secured their quarter-final berth after two winning games with six points, while the second-positioned Australia has four points in hand.

Only a marginal victory by Australia over Argentina, combining with Tunisia's big win over Serbia and Montenegro can make the Junior Carthage Eagles stay for further games.

Morocco, playing in group D, has one point in hand through a goalless draw with Costa Rica. The team will face a tough fight against an ambitious Iraq for a chance to qualify for the next stage.

The Iraqi squad has proved to be very strong after their win over 4-2 over Portugal and a convincing 2-0 win over Costa Rica. Enditem
