    ATHENS, Aug. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Nurcan Taylan of Turkey set a new world record in the women's 48kg category weightlifting at the 28th Olympic Games Saturday evening.

    Taylan snatched 97.5 kilograms in her third lift, improving theprevious world mark by four kilograms.

    The listed world mark of 93.5kg was set by China's Li Zhuo lastyear.

    The Turk strongwoman, who had her personal best at 192.5kg, defeated her arch-rival Li Zhuo to the second by five kilograms after the snatch.

    Li Zhuo, who has been tipped as the top favorite for the gold,lifted 92.5 kilograms in the snatch.

    Taylan displayed her overwhelming power in the snatch, lifting 90, 95 and 97.5kg in her three lifts respectively. Enditem
