Grandchild of India's Gandhi to visit Palestine
www.chinaview.cn 2004-08-14 19:47:46

GAZA, Aug. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Aaron Gandhi, grandchild of India's late founder Mahatma Gandhi, is to visit the Palestinian territories by the end of August, Palestinian media reported on Saturday.

Aaron Gandhi's visit aims at supporting the Palestinians "against the Israeli occupation" and their objection to the separation wall Israel are building in the West Bank, concerned sources were quoted as saying.

Palestinian newspapers reported that Aaron Gandhi will meet with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and other senior officials as well as thousands of common Palestinian people.

He said earlier that he will explain to the Palestinians his nonviolence philosophy.

He was also quoted by the Israeli daily of Ha'aretz as saying that the persistent blood shedding in the region will only stop by means of the cleverer and by those who posses the ability to change.  Enditem
