Differences of gym competitions between worlds and Olympics

    ATHENS, Aug. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Following are the differences of the gymnastics competitions between the world championships and the Olympic Games:

    There is a restriction on entries for the Olympic Games. Only the top 12 men's and women's teams and a designated number of countries or regions with individuals, who qualified at the world championships in the previous year can participate.

    The world championships is open to all members in the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG).

    The Olympic Games has fewer competitors than the world championships.

    The Athens Olympic Games will open on Friday and its gymnastics competitions will kick off on Saturday. Enditem
