LIMA, Aug. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Seven people, including an Irish tourist, were killed and 48 others injured as a bus carrying them plunged into a river from a bridge on Wednesday morning in Peru's Cusco province, police said.

Apart from the 21-year old Irish tourist, there might be other foreigners killed in the accident, but they have not been identified yet. The injured have been taken to hospitals for treatment.

The ill-fated bus was traveling from southern Puno to Cusco when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a bridge over a river. The bus has not been insured nor has a business license, the police said.

The cause of the accident was still unclear. Enditem
