SINGAPORE, Aug. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Singapore's Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong on Tuesday morning handed in his letter of resignation to President S.R. Nathan, paving the way for Deputy Prime MinisterLee Hsien Loong to take over.
Goh's resignation will take effect later Thursday when Lee Hsien Loong is to be sworn in as Singapore's third prime minister.
Goh, 63, succeeded Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew as Singapore's second prime minister in 1990.
In addition, Lee Hsien Loong will announce the list of his new cabinet later Tuesday. Enditem
