    ANKARA, Aug.10 (Xinhuanet) -- Simultaneous explosions hit two small hotels in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul early Tuesday, killing one person and injuring eight others, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

    The agency said the blasts happened at around 2:00 am local time (2300 GMT Monday) in the city's Laleli and Sultanahmet districts. One explosion occurred on the third floor of the six-storey Pars Hotel at Ordu Street in Laleli District, leaving one person dead.

    A hotel worker said they received an anonymous call only 10 minutes before the explosion saying there was a bomb in a room.

    Anatolia said another explosion occurred in the second floor ofthree-story Holiday Hotel in Sultanahmet Turkocagi District.

    The wounded were rushed to hospitals for medical treatment, added the report. The nationalities of the victims were still unknown.

    Istanbul police chief Celalettin Cerrah, quoted by Anatolia, said that the explosions appeared to be a terrorist attack.

    In another development, two bombs also exploded at a gas filling station in Istanbul early Tuesday, causing material damagebut no casualties, Anatolian reported. Enditem
