GAZA, Aug. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Egypt and Islamic resistance movement(Hamas) had reached an agreement on the arrangements once the Israeli army pulls out and settlements are evacuated from the Gaza Strip, an Egyptian newspaper said Monday.

The Egyptian daily of al Ahram revealed that Hamas and Egypt had agreed "first to guarantee a Palestinian unity after the Israeli army pullout from the Gaza Strip".

The daily said the agreement was about reinforcing the Palestinian unity and the special arrangements that would be following the pullout from the Gaza Strip and parts of the northern West Bank.

It said that Egypt was seeking to reach an agreement with other Palestinian factions, especially Fatah movement, the main factionin the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) chaired by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

Hamas and Egyptian officials discussed last week what would be the security role of Egypt in the Gaza Strip.

The daily said Egypt had asked the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to prepare a list of names of 45 Palestinian police officers to be trained in Egypt next month.

The aim of training is to help the Palestinian police to impose law and discipline after Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip, said the daily, adding that Egypt had proposed sending 200 Egyptian security experts to Gaza for the training.

The daily also said that Israel and Egypt had reached an agreement in principle that the Israeli border police would be responsible for guarding the borders between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. Enditem
