Egypt contacts Palestinian factions on reopening dialogue
www.chinaview.cn 2004-08-08 13:25:52

GAZA, Aug. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Egypt is holding high-level contact with different Palestinian factions in a bid to reopen dialogues over an anticipated Israeli pullout, Palestinian well-informed sources said Sunday.

Ramzi Rabah, member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), told reporters that "there are talks about agreeing on a common national program and a joint vision to confront the possibilities of an Israeli pullout from Gaza."

The contact between Egypt and Palestinian factions would come in the form of a series of meetings which were set in Cairo in September, Rabah said.

An Egyptian delegation would arrive at Gaza on Sunday for talks with the Palestinian factions over possibilities of an Israeli evacuation from the Gaza Strip, Israeli press reported.

The well-informed sources denied these reports, saying that such a visit has not been even discussed yet.

Rabah expressed hope that the coming Cairo dialogue would help various parties hammer out a common working document on how to rule the Gaza Strip in the wake of the Israeli withdrawal.  Enditem
